TEAMS/USPS Recruiting Processes
Beginning Recruitment
This page shows you how to create a posting, what the posting should include, and more.
Advertising the Position & Receiving Resumes
TEAMS positions must be advertised on the University of Florida's web site for a minimum of seven days. This page outlines the requirements for advertising a position.
Reviewing Resumes
As a hiring manager or a Guest User, you will require access to view applicants applications and/or resumes.
Applicants are considered qualified for the position based on self disclosure. The education/experience of most applicants is not verified until they are identified as a finalist for a position. In addition, applicants for typing positions (secretary, senior secretary, word processing operator, senior processing operator, word processing operator supervisor, and clerk typist) will be requested to pass the typing test prior to an offer being extended.
While Recruitment and Staffing verifies the candidate’s education credentials and performs criminal background checks (upon request), it is the department's responsibility to verify the candidate's work experience by conducting reference checks.
A detailed instruction guide can be found on the GatorJobs toolkit page and reference the guide Reviewing Applications, Interviewing Candidates, and Making TEAMS Job Offers with GatorJobs.
Interviewing Candidates
Inviting Candidates for Interview
Once you have identified candidates for interview, contact your recruiter so they can prescreen these candidates. Once candidates are cleared, you may schedule your interview and update the status of candidates selected for interview. A detailed instruction guide can be found on the GatorJobs toolkit and reference the guide "Reviewing Applications, Interviewing Candidates, and Making TEAMS Job Offers with GatorJobs."
Reminders about Interviewing
Departments are strongly encouraged to interview a minimum of three to five applicants and should select those individuals whose qualifications most closely match the position as advertised. The number of applicants interviewed may be larger or smaller than this recommended figure and depends on the number of total qualified applicants received and the nature of the position.
Evaluate Candidates You Interviewed
Regardless of whether a search committee is used, we recommend that the evaluation of the candidates interviewed be done only by the department interviewer (hiring authority) or the originator working on behalf of the department interviewer. We do not recommend that multiple people on the interview team/search committee complete this step.

OPS Recruitment & Hiring Process
OPS positions are at-will temporary positions and do not come with benefits. Recruitment and Staffing is available to assist departments with the OPS recruitment and hiring processes. While the university currently does not have a time limit on the length of time an employee can be OPS, OPS employment should not be a substitute for a long-standing employment need.
