Interviewing Candidates
Inviting Candidates for Interview
Once you have identified candidates for interview, contact your recruiter so they can prescreen these candidates. Once candidates are cleared, you may schedule your interview and update the status of candidates selected for interview. A detailed instruction guide can be found on the GatorJobs toolkit and reference the guide "Reviewing Applications, Interviewing Candidates, and Making TEAMS Job Offers with GatorJobs."
Reminders about Interviewing
Departments are strongly encouraged to interview a minimum of three to five applicants and should select those individuals whose qualifications most closely match the position as advertised. The number of applicants interviewed may be larger or smaller than this recommended figure and depends on the number of total qualified applicants received and the nature of the position.
Evaluate Candidates You Interviewed
Regardless of whether a search committee is used, we recommend that the evaluation of the candidates interviewed be done only by the department interviewer (hiring authority) or the originator working on behalf of the department interviewer. We do not recommend that multiple people on the interview team/search committee complete this step.
