University Policy on HIV/AIDS

We assess the needs of students or employees with HIV infection individually and maintain confidentiality. Breach of confidentiality may result in disciplinary action.

The university does not isolate individuals with HIV/AIDS. We support their participation in the campus environment.

We provide education to prevent the spread of HIV and offer support services for those affected.

Contact the Director of the Student Health Care Center at 392-1161 for more information.

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

HIPAA ensures the privacy of personal health information. Compliance involves training and signing a confidentiality agreement.

HIPAA sets boundaries on health record use and release. It also restricts access to patient records.

Violating HIPAA can result in penalties, including dismissal. For more information, visit the UF Privacy website or contact the Office of the Vice President for Health Affairs at 392-8981.
