Getting Started
Most myUFL Tookits include a single link to an assortment of simulations—also known as a "User Productivity Kit," or "UPK,"—covering a variety of topics. The range of topics listed will be found by simply clicking on the single link to "Launch Player ."
Please note that if your browser has a "pop-up blocker," you will need to press the <Ctrl> key on your keyboard firmly and hold it down while clicking on the "Launch Player" link in order for the "player" to launch.
The Simulation Browser
When you click on the "Launch Player" link within the Toolkit you are exploring, you are taken to new window in your browser that will look like this:
The Outline pane at the left side of the browser shows the topics—or "modules"—available for exploration in the simulation you have chosen. When you click on the + sign to the left of the module, a drop-down menu will appear with lessons from which to choose. Click on the + signs here, and further drop-down menus will appear with topics within each lesson. When you reach this level, the Playback Modes (found in the top right corner) become available.
The Concept Pane found below the Playback mode pane, displays additional information, introductions, and lesson objectives, as well as tips and important reminders. You may also find prerequisites and results of performing tasks here.
The Introduction Pane will occasionally display information that describes what you will do in the training exercise you have selected.
The Playback Modes
In Playback Mode, you will choose the training mode that works best for your learning style:
In See It! mode, watch an animated demonstration of tasks being performed in a simulated environment. You do not need to do anything in this mode.
In Try It! mode, you can learn interactively as the simulation guides you through the steps with instructions while you perform them. Most users report that Try It! is the most effective tool for mastering the myUFL systems.
In Know It? mode, you can test your skills by completing the tasks without help or instructions.
In Do It! mode, you will be guided through steps as you complete an actual task in the myUFL systems. COMING SOON!
Jump-In Points
When you click on this arrow button, found to the right of the "See It!" and "Try It!" mode buttons in the Playback Mode pane, a menu of links to various sub-topics will appear. Jump-in points are helpful when you need to learn only a portion of a task or have mastered other portions of that task, particularly in functions with many steps.
