GET195 Grant Accounting Changes Workshop
To improve accountability and provide enhanced accounting controls for the university, several changes will be made to grants accounting starting July 1.  The changes are being made as a result of audit recommendations and are designed to help the university manage grants more effectively as well as provide better documentation for certain transactions.

This overview session explains these changes, which are designed to support standards surrounding grants accounting at the University of Florida.

GET199 Cyber Self-Defense
Friday, April 23, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Instructor: John Sawyer

This session is designed to raise awareness of faculty and staff on topics including safe Web browsing, principle of least privilege, encrypting and backing up files, e-mail safety, and wireless security. The class is very interactive with discussion topics that get the participants thinking about how to protect their personal and work computers both at home and the office.

PRO323 Post-Award Overview at UF
Tuesday, August 3, 9 a.m. to 12 noon

The three “core” post-award (contract and grant) offices at UF have created this course to provide an overview of the “Post Award” area within research administration. Key areas of responsibility will be explored so that faculty, department administrators, and other key research personnel will understand how these offices serve them in managing the sponsored program portfolio. This class is a prerequisite for PRO334.

PRO334 Budget Management for Sponsored Programs
Thursday, August 5, 9 a.m. to 12 noon

Prerequisite to attend: PRO323.  This course provides a detailed review of the information that department administrators and faculty need to appropriately manage their sponsored program funds.  Participants will explore rules/regulations, modifiers impacting direct and indirect costs including the use of budget codes in PeopleSoft,  the impact of Level 3 and Level 5 in Commitment Control, budget transfers, and expense monitoring and reconciliation.

PRO314 Classification and Compensation Foundations
Tuesday, August 10, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The objective of this workshop is to increase your understanding of the university’s classification and compensation structure for UF staff, with emphasis on describing jobs accurately and understanding options that are available to ensure employees are classified and paid properly.

This session will give campus a preview of upgrades to the myUFL Financial System, slated for go-live in the spring of 2011.

PRV800 HIPAA and Privacy General Awareness
This training module is required for all members of the workforce* in UF’s medical components and their affiliated entities, whether they have access tohealth information or not.

*The workforce includes faculty, staff, students, volunteers, and third parties under the direct control of UF, both temporary and permanent, whether paid or not.

NOTE: If you are involved in human subject research, you should complete HIPAA and Privacy – Research (PRV801) in place of this module.

PRV801 HIPAA and Privacy – Research
This training module presents very basic information about federal (HIPAA) and state information privacy and security regulations, and the impact ofthese regulations on human subject research at the University of Florida.

To conduct human subject research at UF or to use the Institutional Review Board (IRB) as a Privacy Board for research review, all principal investigators, co-principals, sub-investigators, research coordinators, and staff with access to research-related health information must complete this training module before research documents are submitted.
