Walking Challenge

Get involved with a little healthy competition.

This four week walking challenge will encourage you and your coworkers to get up and get moving! Participants and teams track and record their daily steps throughout the challenge and compete against other teams from UF and UF Health. The winning teams will have their team name added to the trophy and get to house the trophy until the next challenge winners are announced.The walking challenge takes place every spring and fall.

Campus Walking Maps

Take a quick 6 minute break or a full on 30 minute walk with our UF and UF Health campus walking maps.

Resistance Band Workouts

Get strong with these 5 minute upper body, lower body, and total body workouts. Use our printable handouts as a guide and check out our video demonstrations to perfect your form.

Body Composition Screenings

Provide information on weight, BMI, body fat or body composition, and hydration. After the screening,meet with a certified health educator to discuss your results and determine ways to improve your numbers. Blood Pressure Screenings

Screenings offered at various locations throughout campus throughout the year. Free Weekly Yoga

This free, on-going class is offered to all UF and UF Health employees every Tuesday from 12:15-1pm in the Ustler Hall, 162 Fletcher Drive. Meet in the atrium located on the second floor. The class is appropriate for all levels and focuses on reducing stress and tension while building flexibility and strength. Led by Kim Holton.

Pilates

This free class is offered to all UF and UF Health employees every Saturday from 10-11am through June 4, 2016. The class is appropriate for all levels and is designed to provide each student with the appropriate modifications. Led by Isabel Garcia-Rose.

Zumba

Free Zumba for all UF and UF Health employees. The Monday class from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at UF Health’s Cancer Hospital,1515 SW Archer Road (also known as the South Tower) is led by ER nurse Deborah Noonan. After hours parking is available at the 1329 Building, 1329 SW 16th Street. The Wednesday class from 5:20-6:20 p.m. at the Cancer and Genetics Research Complex, 2033 Mowry Road, Room 451 is led by Louise Watson. Free parking! The Thursday class from 5:15-6:15 p.m. at HealthStreet, 2401 SW Archer Road, is led by Mallory Rubek. Parking is also free!

Flu Shots

Provided at no cost to UF Health employees and UF students in the fall of each year. NOTE: UF employees may obtain a no-cost flu shot at the annual UF Benefits Fair only.

Gator Community Supported Agriculture(CSA)

Sign up to get a weekly delivery of fresh, seasonal produce from an area farmer; pick-up location available on campus.

Gentle Yoga for Health / Yoga for Self-Care

Focus on mindful movement, stretching for relaxation, adaptive postures and breathing techniques.

HealthStreet

Provides health assessments, HIV testing and birth control counseling as well as information on local resources and UF research opportunities.

inControl Diabetes Self-Management Program

A six-month program open to all GatorCare members 18 or older with a diagnosis of diabetes. Contact GatorCare Care Management Coordinator Lindsey Johnson at johnjt@shands.ufl.edu or (352) 265-7251 to determine your eligibility.

Promotes a campus environment supportive of the development and maintenance of a healthy body, mind and spirit, including the annual “Champions of Change” awards program.

Get up and go! Couch to 5k

Have you always wanted to complete a 5k but weren’t sure where to begin? Join the Get up and go! Couch to 5k program. Sign up and get registered for this 8 week training program to receive weekly emails and tips to help you run, walk, or jog your way to a 5k!

Integrative Medicine

Tai Chi, guided meditation and yoga; Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction series and an eight-week mind-body self-healthcare program for healthcare providers.

Lake Wauburg

Canoes, climbing wall, mountain bikes, sailboats, wakeboarding, waterskiing and more with a Gator 1 card that designates you as faculty, staff, spouse, partner, retired, UAA, UFF or Shands employee whose card includes a hologram and a UFID number; guests accepted at some locations.

Living with Hearing Loss

Nutritious You From Blue

Five-week series provides comprehensive nutrition education on understanding calories and nutrients, portion sizes, reading and using food labels, comparing food products, healthy cooking methods, dining out, meal planning tools, and more! Several of the components can also be given as a one hour presentation instead of the five-week course.  O’Connell Center Weight Room

Located at Gate 1, Level 1 and open to all UF faculty and staff with a Gator1 ID, the weight room is equipped with dumbbells, barbells, and free-style weights for power lifting.

Outdoor Bootcamp

A high intensity workout that changes from week to week; 80 max—first come, first-served
Please note that if class is moved indoors due to inclement weather, UF RecSports membership is required

Outdoor Intramural Sports Leagues and Special Events

Ultimate Frisbee, softball, soccer, kickball, team tennis, sand volleyball, dodgeball, flag football and more on a competitive and recreational level

Smoking Cessation Program

Resources available through your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Tobacco Free Florida, including group and one-on-one support and free or reduced cost nicotine replacement therapies such as patches, gum, and/or lozenges. UF Health Shands Fitness and Wellness Center

One of Gainesville’s newest fitness and wellness centers; medical fitness and personal training available. 30 minute group fitness class available.

UF Recreational Sports

Membership provides access to recreation and fitness facilities, group fitness classes, fitness assessment center and indoor intramurals; premium services include massage therapy, personal training and small group training.

Employee Health Services

Not just for students, the UF Student Health Care Center also offers a variety of fee-based health care services for employees, including immunizations, travel counseling, laboratory services and pharmacy services.

College Student Health

UF’s Student Health Care Center helps patients achieve maximum physical health so that each may participate fully in the educational and personal growth opportunities afforded by the University. Primary and specialty care available include illness and injury treatment, pharmacy services, immunizations, women’s health services, nutrition counseling, sexual health services, sports medicine and physical therapy.
