Screening and Return to the Workplace

Starting in May 2020, employees who have been working remotely will begin to be asked to return to their on-campus work location. This return to the UF workplace will occur in phases and under the guidance of university leadership and UF Health infectious disease experts. Emphasis will continue to be placed on physical distancing and other safety precautions in the workplace—such as sanitizing the work environment and wearing masks or cloth face coverings, as appropriate.

All employees, including those who have remained at their work locations, will complete mandatory screening through UF Health in order to return to their regular UF work location or to continue to work on campus.  Here’s what the process will look like:


1. Supervisors discuss with employees



2. Colleges and units notify UFHR of employees scheduled for screening



3. Colleges and units communicate with each employee identified, indicating the process has been initiated



4. UFHR reviews and approves each employee’s case



5. UFHR sends an email with instructions on how to complete the screening to each designated employee



6. Employee completes screening



7. UFHR and departments will be notified when employees are cleared to return to work or continue working if already on-campus
