Classification and Compensation classifies positions in the TEAMS (Technical, Executive, Administrative, and Managerial Support) pay plan. The first step is to secure funding for the position from the appropriate budget authority for your unit. You will then enter an “Add New Position” ePAF. (See the “Adding a Position” instruction guide). A position number will be automatically assigned when Classification and Compensation approves the ePAF. An updated organizational chart must also be submitted either by e-mail to compensation@ufl.edu.
How to Write a Position Description
Position descriptions are helpful to job applicants, employees, supervisors and to Human Resource staffers at every stage in the employment relationship.
Completing the Position Description Form
Please carefully read and follow these instructions to ensure the timely processing of your classification request.

Salary Ranges (Pay Grades)
While regulations allow departments hiring new employees to offer any salary within the range for the pay grade, departments must adhere to regulations set by their vice presidential unit. Despite this intended flexibility, many departments only are able to hire employees at the base of the pay range.
