Types of Level 2 Screenings
Level 2 screening is a comprehensive criminal background screening that includes fingerprint-based check for statewide criminal history records through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and national criminal history records through the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
There two types of level 2 screenings, the following chart provides information on when these types of background checks are typically used. If you are not sure which one to select, contact Talent Acquisition & Onboarding at 352-392-2477 for additional information.

Per Florida statute and Department of Children and Families guidelines, an employee or a volunteer cannot participate in any of the activities described above until the employee or the volunteer has been cleared by DCF. |
Screenings Process
To begin the process, the appropriate department contact, usually a departmental administrator, departmental HR liaison or youth activity administrator, must submit the appropriate background check request form.

LEVEL 2 – DCF | ||
Steps |
1. Department submits the Criminal Background Screening Form 2. Department collects a completed copy of either the Affidavit of Good Moral Character (for DCF funded positions) or Attestation of Good Moral Character – Child Care (Baby Gator and summer camp/activity) and retain it within the department. 3. Candidate completes and submits the Clearinghouse Applicant Request Form (also titled Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse – Criminal Background Screening Request form) and Clearinghouse Privacy Policy Acknowledgement Statement to Talent Acquisition & Onboarding either by fax, campus mail or in person. 4. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding will notify the department if fingerprinting appointment is needed. 5. If needed, candidate schedules an appointment with Talent Acquisition & Onboarding via online appointment scheduler. |

Results | Results usually return within 7 to 10 business days. | |
Sharing Results | Talent Acquisition & Onboarding will fax the Background Screening Result and Public Record to the department contact. |
The department must maintain these documents on file for auditing purposes. |
Schedule an Appointment
Fingerprinting appointments can be made online. Each appointment lasts approximately 20 minutes. To make an appointment, click the “Book Now” link below.
If a criminal background check needs to be conducted outside of the main campus area, please contact Talent Acquisition & Onboarding at 352-392-2477 for additional information.
Youth Camps and Activities
Other than Florida 4-H programs, all youth camps and activities must register with the UF Youth Compliance. In addition, all camp personnel – employees and volunteers – need to register and complete online training prior to beginning work. Additional information regarding youth camps or activities, including background check requirements, can be found by visiting the UF Youth Compliance. Florida 4-H programs must register with Florida 4-H State Headquarters.
Foreign Nationals Volunteers
Foreign national employees and students should seek consultation with the appropriate offices to ensure their volunteering activities do not have an adverse impact on their visa status, including F-1/OPT and J-1/Academic Training.
- Foreign national employees in H1B, TN, E3 and O-1 status should contact their sponsoring department or HRS Immigration Compliance Services.
- Foreign national students, including those in F-1 and J status, should consult with UF International Center.
