2018 Annual Security and Fire Safety Notice Now Available

Dear University of Florida Students, Faculty, Staff and Affiliates,

In an effort to improve safety awareness for students and community members and comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), the University of Florida Police Department has published the 2018 edition its Annual Security and Fire Safety Reports (ASFSR’s).

Please find information in the table below regarding the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (ASFSR) for each of the four University of Florida Clery Act campuses. For the purposes of these reports, the University of Florida has elected to combine the required Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report into one document for each campus – an ASFSR.

*Please note that the UF Research and Academic Center Lake Nona Campus does not own or control any on-campus student housing facilities; therefore, only an Annual Security Report has been published for that campus.

The Annual Security Reports include statistics for the previous three years (2015, 2016, and 2017) of reported crimes that occurred at each campus, in on-campus student housing facilities, at off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University of Florida that are frequently used by students for educational purposes, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from each of the four campuses. The Annual Security Reports also include policy information related to campus security, policies regarding alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, the reporting of crimes, as well as other personal safety and property tips.

The Annual Fire Safety Reports for the University of Florida Gainesville, UF Health Jacksonville, and Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience campuses contain information regarding fire safety systems for on-campus student housing facilities, fire statistics for on-campus student housing facilities, and fire safety policy information. Each Fire Safety Report also contains information regarding fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies related to smoking and open flames in on-campus student housing facilities, procedures for student housing evacuation in case of a fire, policies regarding fire safety education for students and employees, the titles of each person or organization to which students and employees should report that a fire in an on-campus student housing facility occurred.

Should you have any questions about any of the information contained in the Annual Security and Fire Safety Reports, please contact updinfo@admin.ufl.edu. We hope that you find the information contained in these reports to be informative and helpful. Thank you for all that you do to help us work ‘Together for a Safe Campus’.

Sincerely,

Chief Linda J. Stump-Kurnick
Assistant Vice President of Public and Environmental Safety
University of Florida
