Appointment of Associate Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs & Associate Provost
I am pleased to announce the appointment of two new Associate Provosts, Dr. Chris Hass, Associate Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs, effective August 1, 2018 and Dr. David Reed, Associate Provost, effective July 1, 2018. Both Dr. Hass and Dr. Reed have long histories of research, teaching and service at UF.
As Associate Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs, Dr. Hass will serve as a member of the Provost’s administrative team managing the university’s tenure and promotion process, providing leadership for university-level faculty development efforts, managing faculty personnel issues including policy and processes, and serving as the Office of the Provost’s representative for university governance. Dr. Hass is currently Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology. He has an extensive record of service on the UF Faculty Senate, where he currently serves as a Faculty Senator (since 2015; and 2011-2013). He is currently a member of the Faculty Senate Academic Policy Counsel, has served as member and Chair of the Faculty Senate Welfare Council, and was a member of the SCORS Committee. Additionally, he has served on numerous UF faculty search and award committees.
Dr. Reed is currently the Provost Fellow in the Office of the Provost where he has been responsible for developing and leading a university-wide effort to increase external faculty honors and awards. In his new role as Associate Provost (.50 FTE), Dr. Reed will expand his efforts for enhancing UF faculty recognition through highly prestigious awards. Dr. Reed will continue in his current role as the Associate Director for Research and Collections at the Florida Museum of Natural History. Additionally, he is a Graduate Faculty member in the UF Departments of Biology and Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, as well as in the Genetics and Genomics Graduate Program, and in the School of Natural Resources and the Environment.
