UF Alert Notification System Enrollment

May 15, 2019

To the University of Florida Community,

We’re committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our students, faculty, staff and visitors.  As one of our most effective tools to ensure this safety, the UF Alert notification system provides our community members with important emergency information via text, email and other modes.

The vast majority of the university community subscribes to the system, but our goal is complete participation by students, faculty and staff.  While we have a high percentage of participation, our goal is 100%.  Accordingly, we will begin automatically enrolling all new faculty and staff in the near future to receive emergency notifications. (All students are already automatically enrolled.)  To those of you who are not yet enrolled, we urge you to do so.

In order to receive the most relevant information, be sure to select your appropriate location settings – Gainesville, UF Health-Shands and Lake Nona. Simply log in to the MyUFL system and select “Update Emergency Contact” to customize the UF Alert notifications that you receive.

Please remember that anyone, including family members, may elect to receive UF Alerts for the Gainesville campus by downloading the GatorSafe app onto their mobile device.

With hurricane season rapidly approaching, we encourage you to make the UF Alert system a part of your preparedness planning.  Safety is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate your continued support in keeping it a part of our university-wide culture.

Sincerely,

Dr. Charles E. Lane

Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
