UFHR’s Office of Communications and Worklife aims to inform the campus community about current issues pertaining to employees’ worklife at the University of Florida. In addition, the office provides support to campus units in need of strategic communication and change management guidance related to employee and organizational development. It also develops wellness and worklife programming, outreach and communications for faculty and staff.
UF at Work
This biweekly e-newsletter, which can be found at news.hr.ufl.edu, features news and information designed to support UF faculty and staff in their work and life as well as to reflect faculty and staff efforts to fulfill the vision of preeminence through people.
Worklife
In partnership with areas throughout campus, UF Human Resources develops and delivers wellness and worklife programming, outreach, and communications for faculty and staff. You can find these resources at worklife.hr.ufl.edu
Angie Brown oversees communications for faculty and staff, including the biweekly UF at Work e-newsletter, as well as employee work-life initiatives. She facilitates internal change management efforts and provides strategic communication planning and execution for UFHR, CFO and other university units. Brown has worked in higher education communications for more than 25 years, including positions at UF, Penn State and Oregon Health & Science University. She has served on the National Consortium for Building Healthy Academic Communities’ Board of Directors and the Mindful Leader Advisory Board as well as co-chair of the UF Healthy Gators Coalition.
As assistant director, Rick leads the design and visual communications strategy for UFHR and the Office of the Vice President. He is responsible for the design of digital and print media as well as with broader creative direction and strategies of HR campaigns. His role includes graphic design, branding, photography, campaign development, and web design. Rick has a background working with design agencies and, prior to joining Human Resources, worked for UF Online as a Graphic Designer. He continues his professional development in the creative field.
Patricia Alba
Assistant Director for Communications and Worklife
As Assistant Director for Communications and Worklife, Patricia assists in the management of strategic communications and worklife programs for UFHR, including the UF at Work newsletter and other communications directed to faculty and staff, as well as work-life programs including wellness and GatorPerks initiatives. Patricia previously worked as a communications specialist at the UF Center for Latin American Studies where she managed all aspects of marketing and communications within the center. Patricia holds a master’s degree in mass communications and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Florida.
As Administrative Assistant, Héctor is responsible for providing support to the UFHR Communications and Worklife team. He works with the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselors, managing appointments and assisting UF faculty and staff in need of EAP services. Héctor also manages incoming phone calls and provides assistance with event planning and execution. Héctor is a seasoned public relations specialist. His versatile professional journey encompasses diverse roles such as reporter, foreign media coordinator and housing specialist.
Allison is passionate about helping clients experience growth and healing through therapy. She strives to create a safe, nurturing environment where clients can reach their goals. Her goal is for clients to grow in confidence and hope, enabling them to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Allison has worked in community counseling and private practice with a wide range of adults facing various concerns.
Devin has worked in community mental health centers, a college counseling center and several high schools, giving him a wide range of experience with a variety of mental health and relationship issues. Devin’s approach to counseling is focused on assisting clients with processing current mental health issues and finding solutions to some of these problems through the use of treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Dr. Snow has worked with diverse populations across the lifespan in a variety of psychological and educational settings. She is a dedicated professional with a focus on addressing the needs of all individuals with empathy and respect. Her priority is to have each individual reach a healthier emotional state, with an emphasis on individualized, culturally sensitive, empirically based therapeutic interventions and strengths-based approaches. Her areas of interest include anxiety, depression, the grief process, mind-body connection and positive psychology, as well as coping with lifespan developmental changes.
As a Communications Specialist, Jordyn is responsible for providing administrative support to the UFHR Communications and Worklife team; communicating with UF faculty and staff as well as area vendors; working alongside communications professionals to maintain UFHR’s online presence; and creating strategic content to distribute across online platforms, such as the UFHR website and the UF at Work social media channels and newsletter. Jordyn previously worked as a marketing and events intern at The Education Foundation of Alachua County. Jordyn holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising from the University of Florida.
As web developer, Dan assists with all externally facing websites for UFHR. He is responsible for maintaining and updating web content, improving website design and functionality, ensuring website accessibility, analyzing analytics, and enhancing information architecture. Previously Dan worked at the Counseling & Wellness Center supporting marketing and outreach efforts through graphic design, website design, audio/video support and social media. Prior to that he worked as a web designer for Warrington College of Business, designing templates for online courses and helping pilot Canvas before it’s adoption campus wide.
