All qualifying events must be reported within 60 calendar days. The effective date of plan changes varies based on the benefits package and plan.
IMPORTANT: If changes are not reported within 60 days, you must wait until the next Open Enrollment period to update your elections.
Life insurance beneficiaries can be updated at any time.

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) allows workers and their families to continue group health benefits under certain circumstances, such as job loss, reduced hours, transition between jobs, death, or divorce. COBRA rates are generally the entire monthly premium (employer and employee portions) plus a 2% administrative fee.
After termination from the university, COBRA details will be sent to your home address. To ensure timely delivery, update your mailing address in the University of Florida directory.
