What is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment is your yearly chance to adjust your benefits for the upcoming plan year. Changes made during this time take effect on Jan. 1 of the following year. Outside of this period, changes are only allowed within 60 days of a qualifying status change event.

Open Enrollment Key Dates

  • Open Enrollment Starts – 8 a.m. ET on Monday, Oct. 14
  • Open Enrollment Ends – Submit enrollment changes by 6 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 1
  • Benefits Changes Take Effect – Jan. 1, 2025

New Deduction Start Dates

Any changes to plan deductions will appear in paychecks on these dates:

  • State Plans: December 13, 2024 
  • HSA/FSA: January 10, 2025
  • GatorCare and UFSelect: January 10, 2025

UFSelect Life and Disability Insurance – Guaranteed Issue

During Open Enrollment ONLY, eligible employees may enroll in UFSelect life and disability insurance with no medical questions asked, even if coverage was previously declined. To enroll, log into your myUFL Benefits portal using your Gatorlink ID and password.

Review your current benefits

Review your current benefits and ensure they meet your needs. You may view your elections by going to myUFL > Main Menu > My Self Service > Benefits > Benefits Summary.

Update your MAILING ADDRESS in ONE.UF

Update your MAILING ADDRESS in ONE.UF and confirm your emergency contact information. Your mailing address is within the "Personal Addresses" section, and updates will transfer to your state People First account overnight.

Have your People First ID (PFID) and password ready

To locate your PFID, log into myUFL and navigate to: Main Menu > My Self Service > Benefits > PFID & Beneficiary Info. To reset your password, log onto the People First website and follow the “Forgot Your Password” instructions.

Update your life insurance beneficiaries

Our life insurance beneficiaries guide provides walkthrough instructions for how to update your beneficiaries for both State of Florida and University of Florida plans.

Submit Enrollment Changes by Nov. 1

Open Enrollment closes at 6 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 1, so make sure you submit all changes before that time.

UFSelect Life and Disability (The Standard)

During Open Enrollment ONLY, employees are eligible for guaranteed issue life and disability insurance with no medical questions asked, even if coverage was previously declined.

UFSelect Dental (Eagles Reimbursement Plan)

Available to Graduate Assistants at .25 FTE and above starting Jan. 1, 2025. Current employees may add the plan during Open Enrollment.

UFSelect Vision (Humana)

Available to Graduate Assistants at .25 FTE and above starting Jan. 1, 2025. Current employees may add the plan during Open Enrollment.

How to Make Benefits Changes

  • To Make Changes to State Benefits (People First):
    • Log into your State of Florida People First account using your People First user ID and password.
      • Your People First ID is available in myUFL at: Main Menu > My Self Service > Benefits > PFID & Beneficiary Info.
      • Communications from People First will also include this ID number.
