Strategic Initiatives

As the Director of Strategic Initiatives, Amber Wuertz initiates, directs and implements a broad range of topics of organizational significance for all operations and activities of human resources, including special projects and key strategic initiatives. In her role, Wuertz Works directly with leadership and stakeholders to formulate and execute strategies aligned with university needs.

Wuertz received her bachelor’s degree from Western State College of Colorado, and her master’s degree in management from the University of Florida. Wuertz has worked in UFHR since 2006 and has previously served in roles in Talent Acquisition & Onboarding, Employee Relations, and Classification and Compensation.

In her professional experience, Florencia Otegui-Johnson has had the opportunity and privilege to see the University from multiple vantage points – department, college, and central office level. Along with her curious nature, she brings enthusiasm and a penchant for information gathering to every project she touches.

Otegui-Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs, magna cum laude, from The Florida State University and a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida. She joined UF in 2016 and previously served as Chief of Staff at UF Online. Most recently, Otegui-Johnson completed the UF Academy in 2024.

Mimi Grabavoy is esteemed for her exceptional ability to drive projects to successful completion through meticulous planning, effective communication, and innovative problem-solving. She began her career at UF in 2022, working with the Public Health and Health Professions and the Clinical Translational Science Institute as an Evaluation Project Manager. She then transitioned to the College of Medicine, where she focused on managing large-scale projects in medical AI research.

Grabavoy holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management with a concentration in Human Resources from Santa Fe College. In 2024, she earned her MBA with a concentration in Project Management from Louisiana State University Shreveport. With a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional growth, she is eager to further her professional development in her current role, continually adding value through her dedication to excellence and her passion for making impactful contributions.
