The Employee Education Program, or EEP, is an opportunity funded by university resources that enables full-time eligible employees who have been employed for at least six months to receive tuition assistance for up to six credit hours of instruction per semester at the state university closest to their work location. TEAMS employees may also attend classes at a public state college (i.e., SF College) closest to their work location.
Yes, the admissions process for employees is the same as for any other student. You must ensure that you followed all necessary procedures for admission as a degree-seeking or non-degree seeking student. It is suggested that you meet with an Admissions Officer and an Advisor at the institution where you are interested in taking classes before enrolling.
Applying for the EEP is the process which enables you to obtain assistance in paying for EEP eligible coursework you plan to take as an enrolled degree or non-degree seeking student.
The EEP is not structured to cover entire degrees or certificates. The EEP covers courses on a course-by-course basis. For UF students, contact the college/department that owns the degree or certificate to inquire about EEP support. UF students should visit the Schedule of Courses page at http://www.registrar.ufl.edu/soc/ to verify if courses will be EEP eligible during a specific semester.
For SF College and other colleges and universities, please visit the institution’s programs of study pages to identify degrees or certificates of interest. Please note that courses must be instructor led, earn college credit and must not fall within the list of non covered courses. Please review EEP Course Selection on the EEP page for the institution you plan to attend for more detail about non covered courses, or reach out to the EEP Coordinator if you need further assistance with confirming course eligibility at eep@admin.ufl.edu.
At UF, all courses are not EEP eligible, because courses must individually meet state regulations, such as space or “seats” available and other UF criteria to be eligible for an EEP tuition waiver. After a course has been determined to meet state and UF waiver regulations, it is the college department discretion if they have the capacity to offer waiver eligible courses to EEP students.
It is recommended to check with the college that owns the courses, degrees or certificates to inquire about EEP support for their courses, degrees and certificates. You may visit the Schedule of Courses page at http://www.registrar.ufl.edu/soc/ to check current, prior and future coverage of the courses you seek.
No. The EEP is not structured to cover entire degree or certificate programs, or provide coverage based upon the participant’s desired degree or work-related program. EEP eligible institutions are based upon the employee work location’s physical proximity to the public Florida university or college.
Employees must select the correct link for the school of attendance; UF, Santa Fe College, or Outside Alachua County on the Employee Education Program Homepage to access EEP online applications. EEP participants are responsible for verifying the program policy, eligibility criteria, application submission and approval deadlines, and course registration guidelines, before submitting the online application.
The EEP application requires supervisor and department head (director, chair, etc.) online signatures. It is up to the employee’s supervisor/director to determine the number of credit hours, up to six, for which an employee may register under this program each semester.
Participation in the EEP is neither a benefit of employment nor a guaranteed right. The employee’s supervisor/director also must certify that the employee meets the employment requirements for participation and that the time used is covered by appropriate leave or schedule adjustment.
Participants should submit EEP applications as soon as they have complete course information available for the intended semester. There are not restrictions for early application submission.
For UF, Santa Fe College and other colleges and state universities: Each semester, you must submit the appropriate online Employee Education Program Application for your school by the established semester’s EEP Director Approval Application deadlines to participate.
Once you submit your online application, your EEP request will be forwarded electronically to your manager and director for their review and online approval.
Based on the participant’s supervisory reporting structure, participants will receive confirmation emails for their manager’s approval, “Your EEP Application Manager Approved” and director’s approval, “Your EEP Application Director Approved” from OnBase-noreply@ufl.edu.
All EEP participants must receive approval by the director approval deadline for coursework to be paid for by this program. EEP applications will not be considered for funding until the application has been approved at the director level.
If you do not receive a confirmation after your manager/director approves your application, you must contact eep@admin.ufl.edu for assistance.
Under the EEP, the university is responsible for the payment of matriculation fees, building fees, capital improvement fees, and student financial aid fees. The university is responsible only for the in-state portion of the student financial aid fees. The employee is responsible for paying any additional fees including, but not limited to, application fees, out-of-state tuition and fees, photo I.D. fees, late registration fees, late payment fees, distance education fees, material and supply fees.
Please note that some material and supply fees can be significant. You may want to determine what these are for your courses of interest before you register.
The program does not permit enrollment in thesis, dissertation, internships, directed individual study, self-paced, individual performance courses, non-credit courses, sponsored credit programs, off-book programs, and some distance education course offerings.
Employees are permitted to take courses in any discipline and the courses taken by an employee do not have to be job related to their current position.
Yes. If the courses meet EEP eligible criteria, the course format; in-person, online, or hybrid does not affect EEP coverage.
Yes. However, the participant will be required to “sit out” the subsequent semester in which a non-completion grade has been earned for an EEP-paid course. Participants are permitted (3) incidences of non-completion of an EEP-paid course before their EEP eligibility is removed.
To continue participating in the EEP, employees must achieve a passing grade of “D” of or better in all courses taken through this program. Designations such as (W) withdraw, (WP) withdraw passing, (WF) withdraw failing, (I) incomplete, No-grade (N), Unsatisfactory (U) or failing (E), (F), or other grade representing non-completion, withdrawal or failure will not satisfy the requirements of the EEP, with the exception of medical/disability withdrawal.
Grade Performance Requirements are detailed om the EEP policy page.
