Benefits of the GBAS Certification Program
The GBAS Certification is awarded to experienced business administrators who effectively utilize various components of the GBAS program to benefit their unit, department, and/or college. The certification signifies completion of relevant coursework, regular participation in GBAS Workshops, Institutes, and select UF Leadership programs.
Eligibility
The GBAS Certification is available to experienced business administrators in an exempt TEAMS role who handle budgeting, forecasting, financial or grants management, and/or HR/hiring decisions. Exceptions to the exempt TEAMS status may be considered on a case-by-case basis with supervisor and GBAS Leadership approval.
Timeline
- Applications accepted from late July via our online form (coming soon).
- Application deadline: August 30, 2024.
- Awardees honored annually during the GBAS Fall professional development event.
Prerequisites
To be eligible, applicants must have:
- Completed the Pro 3 Certification in Fiscal Management, HR Payroll Management, or both.
- Participated actively in GBAS program and events, attending 2 per year, with at least one event being an Institute or contributing as a GBAS subject matter expert or presenter within the last 2 years.
- Completed one of the following UF leadership programs:

Application Packet Requirements
The application packet must include:
- A cover letter with name, title, department, email, and phone number, including why you are applying for this award.
- A letter of support from your immediate supervisor including why they support this application.
- Documentation of completed required coursework and programs.
- A list of active participation within GBAS programs and events in the last two years.
- Responses to the following questions:
- Provide specific examples of how you applied the principles of one of these competencies in your work:
- Critical Thinking and Complex Problem Solving
- Strategic Planning and Thinking
- Process Improvement
- Emotional Intelligence
- Communication
- Provide specific examples of how GBAS has influenced your mentoring and support for the professional development of your staff/unit.
- Provide specific examples of knowledge/skills learned at a GBAS Workshop or Institute and their application to your work.
- Describe your growth in your role over the past two years and explain how the GBAS program supported this growth.
- Explain how you personally benefited from your involvement in GBAS.
Evaluation Criteria
A selection committee will score applicants based on the quality and content of the letters provided and the ability to answer the questions based on specific examples, how the examples were accomplished/implemented, the impact/benefit of the examples, and how they align with the GBAS mission, vision, and values.
