Administrative leave may be granted to university employees who qualify as members of the United States team for athletic competitions on the world, Pan American, or Olympic level in sports contested in either Pan American or Olympic competition. The leave period cannot exceed the official training camp and competition combined or 30 calendar days in a calendar year, whichever is less. “United States team” includes group leaders, coaches, officials, or athletes in the official delegation for athletic competitions.
This type of administrative leave is approved by the department, and employees who meet the criteria are entitled to time off from work. Employees should provide documentation from the U.S. team confirming their involvement in the competition.
